Technical criteria

The magnification number alone should not drive the purchase.

Nailfold capillaroscopy needs a balanced combination of field of view, sharpness, reflection control, calibration, ergonomics and software. Without traceability, a good-looking image can still be hard to compare over time.

Useful field of view

High nominal magnification is not enough. The device should show enough nailfold length with a reliable scale for comparison.

Sharpness and reflection control

The image should allow branches, apex, density and microhemorrhages to be distinguished without glare hiding the distal row.

Automatic calibration and measurement

Capillary.io automatically calibrates Inspectis, Smart G-Scope and Dino-Lite so measurements keep physical scale without manual steps.

Storage and traceability

Software matters as much as optics: hand, finger, sector, date, image quality and later retrieval should stay organized.

Capillary.io, optional software

Capillary.io turns capture into diagnosis, reports and traceable data.

If you purchase Capillary.io, CapillaryScope can capture images with automatic calibration and send them to the web platform for analysis, collaboration and reporting.

Without Capillary.io, each device can still be used with its own software: Inspectis includes capillaroscopy-specific software, while Smart G-Scope and Dino-Lite use generic microscopy applications. All three can be used with Capillary.io CapillaryScope.

Clearer diagnosis

Guided capture, automatic calibration, image quality checks and capillary detection help you review assessable images with fewer manual steps.

Fast reporting

Quantitative findings, pattern suggestions and downloadable reports turn measurements into usable clinical documentation.

Better organized data

Patients, visits, fingers, sectors, collaboration, permissions and DICOM export stay inside a traceable workflow.

Learning

Frequently asked questions

Common questions before buying a capillaroscope.

If you need a specific answer for a center or protocol, send the form and we will reply with a tailored recommendation.

Are capillaroscope and video capillaroscope the same thing?

In commercial use, the terms are often used interchangeably. A video capillaroscope is a digital capillaroscope that displays and captures the image on a computer or compatible device.

What is the best capillaroscope to start with?

If you want an affordable and direct setup, Smart G-Scope is usually the simplest option. If you prefer Dino-Lite or need 50x panoramic images in addition to 200x, Dino-Lite CapillaryScope 200 Pro is a good alternative.

When does Inspectis make sense?

Inspectis makes sense if you are looking for a high-end solution, 5 MP resolution, advanced optics and a system better suited to specialist clinics, advanced training or research.

Do all three models work with Capillary.io?

Yes. All three models integrate natively with Capillary.io and CapillaryScope, including automatic calibration for Inspectis, Smart G-Scope and Dino-Lite.

Is Capillary.io included with the capillaroscope?

No. Capillary.io is optional software and is purchased separately. Without Capillary.io, Inspectis includes capillaroscopy-specific software; Smart G-Scope and Dino-Lite can be used with generic microscopy software.

Can I buy from this page?

Smart G-Scope and Dino-Lite link to their product pages at store.capillary.io. Inspectis is handled through the form because it requires a custom quote.

Can any USB microscope be used for capillaroscopy?

Some USB microscopes may be useful for learning or initial screening, but field of view, focus, illumination, calibration and image quality should be validated before structured follow-up use.
